Bizou, the first studio effort by singer-songwriter and producer Alexandre Fournier under the moniker Alix Fernz, is at times immersive and vibrant, at times scathing and shrill, built upon the unlikely accord between candid inspiration and claustrophobic production. Admittedly challenging and austere at first listen, the record’s psychoactive grooves nonetheless emanate pure romanticism, the Montréal artist unsuspectedly commemorating the very fabric of his everyday life as well as its main actors. Ingeniously mixed by music wizard Emmanuel Éthier (Choses Sauvages, Corridor, P’tit Belliveau, etc.) and slated for April 19th, 2024 via Mothland, Alix Fernz’ fantasmagorical and subversive Bizou should no doubt please fans of Hubert Lenoir, We Are Wolves or Oh Sees.

Bizou, le premier effort studio de l’auteur-compositeur, interprète et réalisateur Alexandre Fournier sous le pseudonyme Alix Fernz, est tantôt immersif et vibrant, tantôt cinglant et strident, misant sur l’accord improbable entre écriture candide et production claustrophobe. Certes demandant à première écoute, le disque renferme toutefois dans ses sillons psychoactifs un romantisme d’une pureté insoupçonnée, l’artiste montréalais puisant son inspiration à même la matière première de son quotidien, de son environnement direct. Mixé de main de maître par Emmanuel Éthier (Choses Sauvages, Corridor, P’tit Belliveau, etc.) et prévu pour le 19 avril 2024 via Mothland, le fantasmagorique et subversif Bizou d’Alix Fernz devrait nul doute plaire aux fans de Hubert Lenoir, We Are Wolves ou Oh Sees.
