Crasher (Montréal, QC) are an electrotonic punk outfit fronted by Airick Asher Woodhead, known as the singer/producer for celebrated act Doldrums (Sub Pop, Arbutus, Endless), as well as collaborating with the likes of Austra, Portishead, and Grimes. Woodhead (vocals, keyboards) is joined—both in the studio and on stage—by video/installation artist Kai Thorpe on bass, as well as print artist Tyrin Kelly on drums. The three-piece are to release their proper debut full-length album, Odditi Populaire, on November 7th, 2025 via Mothland.

Formed in early-2021, Crasher first self-released a now sold-out tape entitled: Street Cleaning Machines of the World (May 25th, 2021). Recorded in their shared art/jam space, their introductory work displays caustic lyrics and melodic singing, binding the varied sounds of the band together; an 8-song essay that would be at home next to wave bands of the 80s and reissue labels like Dark Entries and Minimal Wave. About the collection, Cups N Cakes writes: “You have three individuals putting their minds and bodies together to create an album that is equal parts punk, garage rock, and new wave, all without a guitarist. This beautiful monkey-giraffe-rhino is ready to run. The album ebbs and flows steadily through different sounds while still remaining decidedly punk and decidedly Crasher.”

Live, Crasher elegantly mesh crystalline vocals with occasional fiery shouts, all the while proposing sprawling music that travels seamlessly from chiaroscuro love anthems all the way to motorik dance floor bangers. “Always powerful and kind of spooky, Crasher is our favourite Bandcamp-only band. Catching this trio is always a treat, blending strange dark wave, leaning on the electronic side, with DIY grunge/punk grit.” (Also Cool Mag) Since forming, the three-piece have shared the stage with visionaries such as of Montreal, Holy Fuck, and Cola, while also receving invitations from a host of festivals, including M for Montreal, Suoni Per Il Popolo, Wavelength, Taverne Tour, and Project Nowhere. On stage, the trio wear unique pieces of clothing, which they make using frilly leathers and fabrics that look like sea anemones or corals faded by endless exposure to the Sun.
