FHANG

NEO-PSYCHEDELIC | POST-PUNK

How can we refresh our capacity for wonder while the supersaturation of endless change dulls our senses? FHANG, a new collaboration between prolific bassist Mishka Stein (Patrick Watson, TEKE TEKE, Plants And Animals) and innovative producer Samuel Woywitka (Half Moon Run), channels the energy of pandemic-induced uncertainty into thunderous grooves and cinematic soundscapes with the gravity to absorb your entire attention.

The songs that appear on their self-titled debut, FHANG (August 27, 2021 via Hidden Ship), blossomed from experimental snippets into massive, sprawling productions. In essence, this album represents a bold outward burst from two of Montreal’s most ambitious musical minds. In its substance, it is an absolute psychedelic tour de force that mends genres and styles that might have never really existed in the first place.

Live, FHANG brings enough technology to speed-up singularity, performing inside a spaceship-like stage plot that sees the two musicians play acoustic, electric and electronic instruments, but also machines of unknown origin. The result is a sonic extravaganza where tones galore meet heartfelt performance.

The new track comes from their forthcoming self-titled debut album, out August 27th via Hidden Ship label. “King Blame” tells the tale of a lonely drug trip beneath dark, twisted instrumentals.

we could all use an electronic-ambient-krautrock journey to lift us on our feet and replenish our energy levels. If you found yourself nodding while reading the last sentence, then FHANG’s eponymous debut album might just be the thing for you.
— Also Cool Mag!

— Sors-tu?
