Black Legary

A band made of two bass players and a drummer, Black Legary sits comfortably outside the box, sticking out of any crowd. Meet Robbie, Morgan and Mishka. Born out of the core of two of Montreal’s beloved outfits (Patrick Watson and Barr Bros), Black Legary is a rhythm section that has broken away from the sidelines and put itself front-and-centre. The result is a three-headed frontman-beast made of anthemic basslines, soaring swells, and jaw-dropping drum fills. The introspective texts are delivered by the most fragile and vulnerable singing that will break a billion hearts.

Formed in 2016, Black Legary started out as three best friends who finally put their heads – and basses – together. The songs quickly became insanely catchy Prog Pop that is fresh, wild and limitless both on stage and in our speakers.

After self-releasing their first EP, ‘Forever Dodo,’ Black Legary played a number of festivals, garnering loyal fans in their hometown of Montreal and outside their magical city.

Their latest album, Silurian Memorii, will be released Nov 9, 2018 on Balkan Donkey Records. Co- Produced by Warren Spicer (Plants and Animals), this opus proves these guys are masters of groove and sonic extravagance. Their eccentric hooks will spin around in your head while you spin around on the shady dance floor. This album will prove one thing and one thing only: Black Legary will save us all.

The most impressive aspect of their performance was the fantastic vocals, with all three members contributing. The strongest moments of the set came when the band united in gorgeous three-part harmonies that astounded the unsuspecting crowd with beautifully crisp melodies. If this showcase is any indication, Black Legary is headed for a successful run with their fantastic debut record. Don’t miss out.
